Sen. Miguel Zubiri expresses his support for young entrepreneurs

Senator Miguel Zubiri once again expresses his admiration to young entrepreneurs. In his stated letter, “ I am optimistic that our remarkable young entrepreneurs are capable of thinking up creative solutions and forging confident paths forward, toward a future of innovative and inclusive entrepreneurship.”

Global Entrepreneurship Week Philippines 2018: Things to watch out for this week

A week from now is the biggest celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2018 in the Philippines. Universities and colleges are excited to participate in this week-long celebration on November 12 to 17, 2018 that celebrates global entrepreneurship, adhere entrepreneurs to resources and education and connect one another to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Global Entrepreneurship Week Philippines 2018 hosted by GEN Philippines is going to be the biggest and the brightest celebration as it has gathered partners from the entrepreneurship community composed of associations and universities to celebrate this week-long event.

There will be different GEW events that will happen in Manila City, Quezon City, Pasig City and in other parts of the Philippines. GEW events will feature makers and creators, startups, social and young entrepreneurs in the country.

Monday

Launching Ceremony of GEN Philippines

The launching ceremony of GEN Philippines. It is a kick-off event to start the GEW and also to launch the GEN in the Philippines. It is a small gathering of makers and creators, startups, social and young entrepreneurs in the country.

GEN Forum – Developing Brand Strategy

Learn how to leverage your marketing-mix and build a strong brand platform with a strong customer focus, analytical orientation, and interactive approach.

Startup Huddle Manila

Startup Huddle Manila is a monthly international program that has been currently taken place in Bangladesh, Australia, India, Canada and many more. It is a program designed to build and strengthen local entrepreneurship ecosystems by helping one entrepreneur at a time by huddling with other entrepreneurs in the different industry to share his business challenges and crowdsourcing solutions from participants. It is based on the notion that the best way for entrepreneurs to discover solutions to the challenges they face is through purposeful engagement with one another. This program aims to have an intimate engagement with co-entrepreneurs to have an entrepreneurial ecosystem that aims to help one another.

ASEAN HR Tech Venture Summit 2018

Human Resource, Technology and Venture Business combine at the ASEAN HR Tech Venture SummitThe ASEAN HR Tech Venture Summit is set to be held on October 18-19 at Shangri-La at the Fort, Bonifacio Global City. The event will gather ASEAN business leaders, movers, and shakers to discuss the gaps between HR and technology, insights on the current human capital trends and more.

YES Forum July: Science, Business, and Beer

Penbrothers Sheridan—Nipa Brew Craft Beverages CEO and Founder, Mr. Stephen Michael Co, shares his journey in attaining his dream— to be the boss of his own business using his passion for biotechnology. Nipa Brew Craft Beverages is a Filipino handcrafted beverage that offers five (5) flavors of craft beer: Tropic Haze, Sun Stoked, Bliss Point, Midnight Blur, and Drop Zone. They recently opened the first ever bar, Nipa Brew Taproom, located in Makati. Stephen was also the founder of Selula Hayagham Corporation focusing on food and agricultural innovations. This month’s forum was held last July 26 with a topic entitled “Science, Business, and Beer”.

Mr. Stephen started the forum by introducing himself with regards to his educational background, his passion towards the food and agricultural innovations. He also talks about the process of how he came up with the idea of putting up a craft beer business in spite of the tight competition of the alcoholic beverages industry here in the Philippines.

He admitted and explained that craft beers are way more expensive than commercial beers in the local market and it is because of its brewing process which he further elaborated each step of it.

     

Before his talk ends, he opened the floor for Q&A portion which made the forum more interesting and interactive. While he’s entertaining queries from the attendees, YES coordinators opened some bottles of Nipa Brew beers for tasting. Attendees really enjoyed the beer tasting and gathered for a group photo afterward.

BRANDING 101: A Startup’s Guide to Branding

“Branding is an intangible feeling.” was stated by Faye Jessica Yoingco, Digital Content Strategist of One Mega Group Inc., in the YES forum with the topic-“Branding 101: A Startup’s Guide to Branding” held last April 26 at Pen Brothers, Makati City.

Faye is also a marketing communication professor at Miriam College. She also worked as Associate Client Leader, Senior Media Planner, and Digital Marketing Consultant where she gained an extensive background in marketing and media industry.

Faye embarked the first part of her talk by asking the participants, “What brand speaks to you the most?” One of the participants answered ‘Jollibee’ because of its advertisements which showcase the importance of family. According to Faye, marketing strategists’ main focus is to communicate through consumer’s emotion. She also discussed the topics of creating, managing, reviewing, and cultivating a brand. Furthermore, she emphasized that the startup must think about integrating not disrupting.

She taught the participants how to make an outstanding brand by utilizing the power of digital marketing despite the fast-paced environment of the digital world. She also pointed out that the basic guidelines for making a brand are the one H and the 4 Ws (How, What, When, Where, and to Whom). Startups can possibly attain success by mastering the mentioned basic guidelines, focusing on the brand strategy, and maximizing the capacity of digital marketing.

The forum ended with exchanging of calling cards of participants. Soon after, the participants gathered for a group photo.

YES Forum January: How to craft an irresistible Elevator Pitch

Penbrothers Makati City – Pushkart.ph Co-Founder and CEO, Mr. Joshua Aragon shared his knowledge on putting the right content on your elevator pitch, in front of our YES Members last January 25, 2018.

Joshua is the Co-Founder and CEO of Pushkart.ph an online grocery delivery service, developed by a group of young Filipino millennials that aims to ensure fast, convenient, and safe delivery of groceries right at your doorstep.

For this month’s forum, Josh indicated why you need to prepare your elevator pitch. He emphasized that as the presenter or entrepreneur, we need to know first in hand our audience, our business, what can we do to help our target consumers, and what value this consumer need from you.

He also stated that keep on networking with other people, practice more, and search more ways of marketing can help on creating your own pitch deck.

At the middle of his talk, Josh let the attendees participate by making a big circle, and encourage them to make an impromptu pitch about their selves as if they were pitching in front of their investors.

The forum ended with Josh entertaining queries from the audience about their own entrepreneurial experiences which made the session more informative. Soon after, the participants gathered for a group photo.

YES Forum November: Personal Branding for Entrepreneur

Another YES monthly networking forum was successfully conducted last November 22, 2017, at the Penbrothers, Makati City.

This forum featured Abbie Victorino – the Founder and CEO of Stlygenie Incorporated, the first styling and clothing subscription box in the Philippines offering an alternative to shopping while giving access for women to have their own personal stylist.

Abbie shared her knowledge in having a good personal brand, and how is this important to entrepreneurs today.

In her talk, she stated how important relationship is because personal branding is connecting with other people. As an entrepreneur practicing how to be social, continue learning and being updated to changes is necessary.

The second half of the event was allotted for the Q&A, and the questions of the eager participants made the session very informative. Soon after, the forum was wrapped up with a group photo.
