Senator Miguel Zubiri sends his greetings for GEW 2017

A businessman himself, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri expressed his support for this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week. In his stated letter, “Global Entrepreneurship Week, which provides a support network for young and aspiring entrepreneurs to learn – from each other as well as from veteran businessmen – the confidence, best practices, and tricks of the trade to start and grow their own ventures.” Senator Migs lend his full support for this endeavor.

Miriam College as the affiliate host for the Global Entrepreneurship Week – Philippines 2017
This 2017, Miriam College Philippines, CBEA-Department of Entrepreneurship, a CHED designated Center of Excellence, and the Society of Junior Entrepreneurs (SJE) is hosting and co-organizing this event for its 2nd and final year as the GEW’s official school partner. This year, the GEW “Failing Forward” with subtheme “Responsible Entrepreneurial Leadership” aims to bring together young and transformative entrepreneurial leaders who are changing people’s mindsets through their experiences and expertise in their respective fields.
The highly interactive student activities, like venture pitching competitions in 2 categories, have been organized to prepare and hone students in design and creative thinking. These workshops help build and focus their ideas on acceptable and viable undertakings through coaching by panels judges composed of faculty members and entrepreneurs. This year, cash prizes await the winners from the MC UNESCO EE Net Sponsor, 3M.

Volunteer entrepreneurs, experts, and supportive institutions collaborated and joined forces as a benchmark initiative in helping establish a supportive ecosystem in building a vibrant “Entrepreneurial” Philippine society.
To sustain this prestigious global affair and advocacy, Miriam College will, at the end of the program, pass on the torch to the next university or college and its’ student organization to continue this yearly event and keep the flame burning.
YES Forum October: The Importance of Customer Relations in Today’s Busy World
Penbrothers Makati City – Bookie Philippines Co-Founder, Mr. Dijo Songco shared his knowledge on handling customer services, in front of our YES Members last October 25, 2017.
Dijo Songco is the Co-Founder of Bookie Philippines an online travel shop which focuses on customizing trips around the Philippines. Bookie PH was built to aid all types of travelers and make the booking process as seamless as possible. It’s a system created for travelers by travelers.
For this month’s forum, Dijo shared about how important customer relations to a brand. He emphasizes that as the owner, we need to discover and deviate the services that we want to offer to our target market for accurate details, and after that, you can now deliver it to them.
Dijo also shared core principles in customer services this are (1) Knowledge – about the brand (2) Patience and (3) Kindness – to your customers.
The forum ended with Dijo gave guidelines to them to give the best possible customer services for them to patronize their business and as a token, he gives the attendees free BookiePh stickers. Soon after, the participants gathered for a group photo.

October YES Business Mentoring: Overcoming Challenges to Success
Pasig City – Author of “The 5 Step Guide to Empowering Consumers” and President / Resume Writer of GetYourJobFaster.com, Ray Chubb shared his knowledge on how to solve small problems and make this success builds one’s confidence, in front of our YES Members last October 13, 2017.
Ray talked about overcoming barriers and shared some guidelines that can help in starting a business. He also shared the best ways of managing self-awareness, awareness of others, and peace of mind.
The forum ended with Ray entertaining queries from the audience about their own entrepreneurial experiences which made the session more informative. Soon after, the participants gathered for a group photo.

YES Forum September: Survival Guide for Passionate Startups
Makati City – Vitalstrats Creative Solutions (VCS) Founder and Host of EntrepRadio – The Voice of Filipino Entrepreneurs, Amrei Dizon shared her knowledge on how to past the survival stage and succeed in growing a business, in front of our YES Members last September 21, 2017.
Amrei is the Founder and Managing Partner of Vitalstrats Creative Solutions (VCS) – a 13-year-old Digital Content Production Company powering up a brand and corporate communications with strategic creativity.
For this month’s forum, Amrei shared about how lack of experience and resources shouldn’t stop a person from succeeding and growing his/her own enterprise. She also emphasized that an entrepreneur needs to keep on learning new things on the way, know all the aspect of a business, and must have a good vision to succeed.
At the middle of her talk, Amrei let the attendees participate by closing their eyes, and visualize their big dream as an entrepreneur.
The forum ended with attendees sharing their experiences in life as an entrepreneur to each other, and Amrei gave guidelines to them which made the session more interactive. Soon after, the participants gathered for a group photo.

YES Forum August: Passion Driven Enterprises
Penbrothers, Makati City – Young Entrepreneur Academy Founder and Chairman Pocholo “The Voice Master” de Leon Gonzales shared how his passion creates a great impact on his success today, in front of our YES Members last August 17, 2017.
Pocholo started his talk with an icebreaker, where he let the attendees hold each other’s hand and exchange some information about them.
As he introduces himself, the attendees were entertained on how he used his voice in different ways that he usually does in dubbing cartoons, movies, and etc.
As the forum goes on he asks the attendees to list down their talents and out of this, chose only three that they think they have a passion to follow. Pocholo stated that they need to learn first what their passion in life is, then ask their self who needs them and what their target market needs from them that can make a life changing experience.

3rd Startup Summit 2017
The 3rd Startup Summit 2017 was successfully held last August 12, 2017, at Ortigas Foundation Library In Pasig City. The summit, considered as national competition for startups in the Philippines where the winners are awarded the right to represent the country in various global competitions, was organized by the Young Entrepreneur Society (YES) Philippines.
The summit was participated by over 50 applications where the top 20 startups were chosen to pitch at the final competitions. Among the finalists include Higi Energy, Skyeye, Bookie, JazzyPay, AutoConscience, Wela School System, Pushkart.Ph, Onewatt, Empleo, Zikaway, Still Fresh, StyleGenie, My.Divisoria, Exora Philippines, Leverage Ph, Einstar, and Hangtime.
The top 2 winners were awarded as national winners in their respective global competitions.
Higi Energy earned the right to represent the Philippines in the global Future Agro Challenge next year in Turkey. Higi Energy aims to solve the water hyacinth disasters by turning them into solid Eco-fuels for the domestic usages to help customers save on their monthly utility bills.
SkyeEye, on the other hand, won the Philippine Startup Cup from the USA and will be representing the country in the World Startup Cup next year. Sky Eye offers database analytics by using drones to acquire land information quickly, cheaply and intensely. The information that SkyEye will provide will be used to help users correct long-standing mathematical with land titles and government to collect right taxes.
All the top 20 finalists of the Startup Summit automatically earned slots to the annual Startup Open competition organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network. The final 10 most innovative startups in the world will be selected this November where the grand champion will be invited to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Turkey next year.

YES Forum July: Scaling and Exciting a Startup
Another month of learning and interaction as this month YES Forum tackles about the vital stages of a startup journey as Ezra Ferraz and Jason Domantay shared stories of entrepreneurs who successfully scaled and excited a startup, to our YES members last July 19.
Ezra Ferraz is the author of the book “The Finishers “which documents stories of Filipino entrepreneurs who have been able to make start-ups successful. While Jason Domantay is the head of Video of Voyagers Innovation that focused on delivering disruptive innovations for the rapidly changing world, and he is also the CEO of Aboo one of the Top 20 finalist in Startup Summit 2016.
Ezra started his talk by sharing true to life stories of Philippine-based entrepreneurs’ success.
As Jayson took up the stage he grouped the participants into four to work on a business plan to pitch for a certain audience to test their knowledge in pitching a startup.
The forum ended with Ezra and Jason entertaining queries from the audience about their own startup experience, and guidelines which made the session more interactive. Soon after, the participants gathered for a group photo.
